We are all saddened by the devastation that has paralyzed the people in and around Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. We know their needs will be many and will require global support for months to come. Although we are miles away, we desire to lend our support and have decided upon the following plan.
We are thrilled that one of our own local community members, Kevin S., will be heading to Haiti as a paramedic in early April. Kevin has agreed to work with us to help make sure the resources we gather locally will be put into the hand of those who are most in need.
We have decided to offer two different options for support. The first option is to make a financial donation to the "Union Church Haiti Fund." Prior to Kevin's departure, we will present him with a bank check totaling those donations. The second option is to help provide resources that can be used to create "Hygiene Kits." All resources can be brought to the Union Church where the children will put together the different kits. Resources suggested for each kit includes:
hand towel (16"x28")
wash cloth
wide-tooth comb
bath size bar of soap
new toothbrush in original packaging
